Defining and Hiring A-Players

As we were going over this in today’s Scaling Up workshop with Bill Gallagher of Humanisteq, it was brought up and emphasized by the company leaders attending just how important this is to every business.

I recorded this about 6 months ago, and it was the very first video posted to my Facebook page.

Over 1,000 people have watched it.

Watch it yourself and do the following exercise.
  1. Make your own grid.
  2. Map your team.
  3. Create a plan for what you will do with your current team.
  4. Figure out how you will attract and hire more A-Players like those already on your team.
This is a great first step. Just remember there is much, much more that can be done on the People portion of your business to ensure execution and that you are consistently hiring, keeping and nurturing A-Players.

Are you a business owner trying to get more A-Players? First it helps to define who an A-Player is and categorize the current members of your team. For more, check out www.SturdyMcKee.com

I’ve created a new course “How to Recruit & Hire A-Players”. If this post was intriguing to you, and you want to learn more, check it out, and let me know what you think.

P.S. Another key point to consider, after you have completed this exercise, is that a C-Player in your organization is not inherently a C-Player. They are likely (hopefully) good at something else. They may simply be in the wrong position or on the wrong team. Just think Michael Jordan and Baseball.
