The Private Practice Section (PPS) of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has announced that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has published the new National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI) Edits effective Oct 1, 2020.
According to PPS, “Unfortunately, they are reinstating some of the problematic code set edits from January of 2020 which were removed in April of 2020.”
Further, “The APTA and the Private Practice Section sent letters to CMS and the NCCI Edit Contractor asking them to remove these problem code edits OR to delay the implementation since they did not provide communication on these changes with any advance notice. However, as of October 1, they have not responded favorably and the new edits are effective.”
