We are all home schooling our children everyday, especially on the things that they are not being taught in school, like money, relationships, spirituality, social skills, etiquette and communication. Interestingly, some of these are among the most important concepts and skills to their future success.
What if we were all more deliberate about this? What if we taught our children how to set personal goals using the S.M.A.R.T. model and manage to that? What if we planned lessons around money or relationships so that we could be more emotionally neutral and objective, giving them opportunities to fail in a safe environment first? What would happen to their skill sets and confidence? How would the people they interact with feel and view them?
As this as the context, what do you think your employees and team members know about these and other things not specifically taught in school? Are there opportunities for us to be more deliberate in their education and training, giving them safe places to try, experiment and fail in a safe way?
I don’t have the answers here, just some questions right now. I look forward to your comments.
