My guest this week – David Nichols, was led into entrepreneurship when he wanted to find a way so that no one can boss over him. He founded the Automation Resources Group at age 25, and since then, hasn’t looked back.
Key point that drove David to entrepreneurship is the oft repeated line he heard about how he’s good at everything and will figure it out – only to find out that this is not the case! A decade of experience has taught David that an entrepreneur cannot figure it out all by himself.
An entrepreneur needs professionals who are good at skills he is bonkers at. We all need to recognize our limitations and employ people who are good at what we are not. Collaboration is the key to success.
“ ‘Get into it, try it, if you fail, so what?’ … is a very adventurous attitude to have. It is very surprising to see what you can accomplish, if you have that attitude”
David also shares the importance of sharing in a peer group, much like Jennifer did on Episode 4. He says how it can be a great learning experience to learn from other entrepreneurs and the way they are doing business. Catch up more on this Episode of Focus Forward Business to find more such useful tips from David, on his move to Portland from Bay Area being one of his best business decisions and why one of their core business values is ‘No Jerks’!
